New Antony Gormley Exhibition
The island of Delos in the Aegean Sea houses the new exhibition by Antony Gormley, the famous British sculptor.
In keeping with the island's statues, temples and countryside, Gormley has positioned 29 sculptures he has made over the past 20 years.
His goal is to establish a physical and intellectual connection with our collective human memory.
"Sculpture can offer us the opportunity to escape mechanical time, the time of the iPhone, the stress. And this place is a place that stands out of time," Gormley said.
For the ancient Greeks, the island of Delos, near Mykonos, was a sacred place. According to the myth, the deities Apollo and Artemis were said to have been born there.
